Dubai chocolate (Kunafa/kataifi bar)

Dubai chocolate is a modern variant of the classic Middle Eastern dessert Kunafa. It combines crispy, buttery kunafa dough with a rich chocolate filling for a decadent taste experience. Perfect for special occasions, these chocolate-filled kunafa bars are easy to prepare and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 400 g roasted Kunafa dough, coarsely chopped or broken
  • 3 milk chocolate bars (85-115 g each), coarsely chopped
  • 3 dark chocolate bars (85-115 g each), coarsely chopped
  • 3/4 cup pistachio cream
  • 1/2 cup tahini

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate: Place all the chopped chocolate in a large microwave-safe bowl and melt the chocolate in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stop halfway to stir. Stir when done until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

  2. Prepare the chocolate mold: Pour a thin layer of the melted chocolate into each compartment of a chocolate mold. Make sure there is still plenty of space left in each compartment. Place the mold in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to let the chocolate set.

  3. Mix the filling: Combine the roasted Kunafa, pistachio cream, and tahini in a large bowl. Mix well so that everything is evenly distributed.

  4. Fill the chocolate mold: Remove the chocolate mold from the refrigerator. Fill each compartment with a thick layer of the kunafa mixture. Use a spoon to flatten the mixture. Pour the remaining melted chocolate over the kunafa mixture and spread it evenly. Place the molds back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour to let the chocolate set completely.

  5. Serve: Remove the chocolate bars from the molds. Store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy your delicious chocolate kunafa!
